October 31, 2008 News Item: On November 1, 2008, Points South transferred ownership to GWI - the largest Maine owned and operated Internet Provider. From its headquarters in Biddeford, GWI provides businesses and residents throughout Maine with dial up or Broadband Internet and traditional telephone service. The transition will be quick and smooth, requiring no information to be changed on your computers. Please read the following letter from one of the owners and the Question and Answer section after that for more information on this exciting new merger!

A letter from the owner:

Dear Loyal Customers,

On November 1, 2008, merely 11 days shy of the 12th anniversary of our business, Points South transferred ownership to Biddeford-based GWI.

Over the last 12 years I have enjoyed working in the Sanford community, the Cornish community, and countless other areas throughout Maine. I have wonderful memories of working with Maine entrepreneurs to start Internet Providers such as Larck, Watchic, KyND, and Katahdin Area Internet and then, when the owners were ready to move on, purchasing their customers to keep business local.

Rest assured, we are keeping to the same tradition in our merger with GWI. As the longest-standing Maine-owned and operated Internet provider, GWI has broken ground in many areas of service in Maine. A redundant fiber-optic network stretching from Biddeford to Kittery ensures that network outages are a thing of the past. Maine-based Tech support available 24/7 means you'll always be able to reach someone when you need help, even on holidays. DSL and phone service available in many more areas than Points South might mean you're now eligible for high-speed Internet access!

During the next few weeks, I will personally supervise the transition over to GWI's network. We will strive to maximize convenience for our customers as most changes will be undetectable. As always, if you have any questions, concerns, or comments, you may reach me via e-mail at jd@psouth.net and I shall reply promptly. The toll-free number to reach GWI is 1-866-494-2020.

Following this letter is a brief list of answers to questions you may have. Please read over the list as it will provide valuable information.

It has been an unequalled pleasure to work for the Maine community these many years, and I look forward to continuing that work as part of GWI in the years to come.

     Regards,

     Jason Dowdy

Questions

If you have questions about the upcoming transition, please read through this list as you may find your answer. If you can't find an answer here, please e-mail jd@psouth.net and I'll be happy to answer as best I can.

Q: How can I contact GWI?
A: GWI is maintaining all the Points South office numbers, so you can still call 490-4949 or toll free 1-866-490-0100 to reach a GWI technician. GWI has a web page listing all their contact information for sales, billing and technical support. You can find it here:

http://www.gwi.net/about/contactus.html

Q:I owe Points South money for previous months. Where do I send it?
A: As of November 1st all payments for service, no matter when the service was used, are to be paid to GWI. Their mailing address is:

          GWI
          8 Pomerleau Street
          Biddeford, ME 04005

Q: Will my rate plan increase?
A: GWI has agreed not to raise any rates for any services.

Q: Will I have to change my dial-up phone number?
A: No, GWI will maintain of all our dial-up numbers indefinitely, so you will not have to change your dial-up number.

Q: Will I have to change my e-mail address?
A: GWI will be obtaining the psouth.net and psouth.com domain names so you will be able to keep your Points South e-mail address. If you own a domain name, GWI will be migrating over your domain name and your mailboxes under that name, so those will also stay the same.

Q: I have DSL and/or phone service. What is going to change?
A: Nothing. GWI will be making changes on their end, but they should be seamless to you. Your phone number will not change.

Q: I'm used to Points South being open 7 days per week. Will I still be able to reach a technician 7 days a week?
A: Yes! In fact, GWI has tech support available 24/7, even on holidays. While Points South has maintained very long hours and 7 day coverage, the office was still closed at night and on holidays. GWI always has technicians available to assist with problems and no matter when you call, you are still talking with Maine people.

Q: I haven't been able to get high-speed Internet from Points South. Is it possible I can get it from GWI?
A: GWI certainly has a much greater coverage area for Broadband than Points South. To find out if you qualify, give them a call at 1-866-494-2020.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to call GWI at 1-866-494-2020 or e-mail me personally at jd@psouth.net.
